Ruan Mei — Honkai Star Rail Character Guide
Ice Harmony Amplifier · MoC T1 · PF T1 · AS T0.5
Overview
Universal support providing Break Efficiency, RES PEN, and team-wide buffs. Core member of Super Break teams with Harmony Trailblazer or Fugue. Her universal buffs (DMG%, RES PEN, SPD) make her viable in other archetypes, though investment demands are steep.
Harmony support who buffs the entire team with DMG%, Weakness Break Efficiency, SPD, All-Type RES PEN, and Break Effect. Skill grants Overtone for 3 turns providing 32% DMG and 50% Break Efficiency to all allies. Ultimate deploys a field granting 25% All-Type RES PEN and applying Thanatoplum Rebloom to extend enemy Weakness Break duration. Talent passively increases all other allies' SPD by 10% and deals bonus Ice Break DMG whenever allies Break an enemy.
Key Mechanics
- All buffs are team-wide and unconditional — DMG% (32-68%), SPD (10%), Break Efficiency (50%), All-Type RES PEN (25%), and Break Effect (20% from A2). This universality makes her viable in any team archetype, not just Break teams.
- Reaching 180% Break Effect is the critical investment threshold. Below 180%, the A6 bonus is incomplete and she loses up to 36% team DMG. The 20% from A2 counts toward this total, so 160% from relics/LCs is the actual target.
- Thanatoplum Rebloom extends Weakness Break duration and delays enemy action recovery, creating longer windows where enemies are Broken and vulnerable. The action delay scales with Break Effect (20% of BE + 10%), rewarding high Break Effect investment.
- The 10% SPD buff from Talent applies to all allies except Ruan Mei herself and is always active. This can push teammates over important SPD breakpoints without requiring additional SPD substats.
- Energy economy requires attention — 130 cost Ultimate with 30 Energy from Skill, 20 from Basic, and 5 from A4 per turn. Energy Regen Rope or energy-generating Light Cones (Memories of the Past, Meshing Cogs) are often needed for consistent 3-turn Ultimate rotations.

Investment Priority
- E1 — DEF ignore from Ultimate field applies universally to all damage types and is multiplicative with other buffs. Major stopping point, especially valuable in non-Break teams.
- LC S1 — Signature provides 60% Break Effect and 24% DMG buff from Ultimate. BiS for Break teams but expensive; Memories of the Past S5 or Meshing Cogs S5 are viable F2P alternatives.
- E2 — ATK buff when hitting Broken enemies is completely wasted in Super Break teams where damage scales on Break Effect, not ATK. Skip if Break-focused; valuable only in generalist comps.

Stat targets: Break Effect 180%+, SPD 134+, HP 3700-5000+, DEF 1000+, Effect RES 30%+
Main stats: Body: HP% / DEF% · Feet: SPD · Sphere: HP% / DEF% · Rope: Energy Regen / Break Effect
Important Notes
- Extremely steep investment requirement — needs 180% Break Effect for full A6 bonus (68% total DMG buff)
- Break damage can "kill steal" which hurts DPS that rely on last-hitting enemies
- E2 ATK buff completely wasted in Super Break teams — E1 is better stopping point for Break-focused players
- Energy management critical — use Memories of the Past S5, Dance! Dance! Dance!, or signature for reliable Ultimate uptime
- Super Break archetype less dominant in current patch meta but still highly effective for all content
