StarGuide — The Smartest Honkai Star Rail Team Builder and Guide

StarGuide is a personalized Honkai Star Rail team builder and account planning tool used by thousands of HSR players. Unlike generic tier list sites, StarGuide builds team recommendations, pull priorities, and investment plans from your actual roster — your owned characters, eidolons, light cones, and relics. Every recommendation is tailored to your account across Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow. Pre-release characters may be added with full guides, team recommendations, and score placements up to a week before release using official Creator Experience Server data, so you can plan pulls before the banner drops. Core features are completely free with no ads.

What makes StarGuide different from other HSR team builders?

Most Honkai Star Rail team builders show you the same generic "best teams" regardless of what you own. StarGuide is fundamentally different — it's roster-aware. After importing your account data, every recommendation considers your actual characters, their eidolon levels, and which light cones you have equipped.

StarGuide's team scoring system accounts for teammate synergy ratings, eidolon investment, and light cone equipment. Character power scores are dynamically modified by your actual investment level, so a well-invested lower-scored character can genuinely outperform a poorly-invested meta pick in your team rankings. The algorithm also factors in current endgame rotation boosts — element, path, and label bonuses — so your team rankings automatically update as cycles rotate. See the full methodology page for every formula, threshold, and algorithm behind the scoring system.

Team recommendations also account for the current endgame rotation boosts — element bonuses, path bonuses, and label bonuses — so your team rankings automatically stay relevant as cycles rotate every two weeks.

How does StarGuide compare to Prydwen, GenshinLab, and other HSR tools?

Prydwen Institute is an excellent character database with in-depth editorial guides and a large community wiki. Its team builder is a manual sandbox where you slot characters into role positions yourself. GenshinLab provides curated lists of community-accepted team compositions organized by element. KQM (Keqing Mains) offers detailed theorycrafting guides explaining the mechanics behind team building.

StarGuide fills a different role: it's an automated, account-aware planning tool. You import your roster once, and the team builder, pull advisor, investment planner, and endgame planner all adapt to your specific situation. It answers "given MY characters, what's the best team I can actually build?" rather than "what's the best team in a vacuum?" These tools complement each other — use Prydwen or KQM for deep character analysis and theorycrafting, and StarGuide for personalized account planning.

Who is StarGuide for?

StarGuide is designed for Honkai Star Rail players at any level who want data-driven answers to planning questions. F2P and low-spenders benefit most from the Pull Advisor and Next Best Action tools, which ensure every pull and investment delivers maximum account value. Mid-game players use the Best Teams builder and Endgame Planner to clear Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow efficiently. Endgame veterans use the Strategy Coach, investment paths, and relic insights to squeeze out optimal performance from fully built accounts. Not sure where to start? The How to Use StarGuide guide walks you through every feature with step-by-step workflows for free, Supporter, and Trailblazer users.

Can StarGuide help me plan pulls across multiple patches?

StarGuide's free and Supporter-tier tools focus on your current roster and released characters. The Best Teams builder, Pull Advisor, Next Best Action, and Banner tab answer specific planning questions with deterministic tools. The Strategy Coach (Trailblazer tier) can combine relevant planning tools in one conversation. Coach reads imported data from the roster your conversation starts with and can chain multiple tools together to answer complex questions like "Should I pull on this banner or save?" or "What's the best upgrade path for my account?" It can retain selected goals across sessions and uses StarGuide's current authored character data within the public-coverage boundary.

What free tools does StarGuide offer?

Best Teams — Roster-Aware Team Builder

Generates the strongest non-overlapping team sets from your owned characters, optimized across all three endgame modes. The algorithm evaluates every possible team combination using synergy ratings and investment data, then selects team pairs where characters don't overlap — critical for split-stage content like Memory of Chaos. You can lock specific characters, favorite team sets, and compare compositions side by side.

Pull Advisor — Who Should You Pull Next?

Shows which released characters you don't yet own would benefit your roster the most. The advisor simulates adding each unowned character to your account and measures the team quality improvement across all endgame modes. Two perspectives: "For Your DPS" reveals which supports your damage dealers are missing, and "For Your Supports" shows which DPS characters your support lineup can best enable. Characters can be dismissed or deprioritized.

Banner tab — Should You Pull on the Current Banner?

Evaluates every currently active banner against your roster. Shows exactly how much account value each banner character would add based on team synergy improvements, roster gap analysis, and investment potential. Helps you decide whether to pull now or save for a future banner.

LC Optimizer — stronger assignments across your roster

One character-first worklist combines verified owned equips, moves, swaps, and acquisition options from a roster-wide assignment that prioritizes your confirmed teams. Multi-character changes appear once as atomic plans with Undo. A best-in-slot S1 light cone is worth roughly 10 score points.

Team Investment Paths — Build Order Guides

Step-by-step cross-character investment guides for popular team compositions like DoT teams, Castorice premium, Firefly Super Break, and more. Each path is organized into phases — Team Assembly, First Upgrades, Deep Investment — answering which characters to pull, which eidolons matter, which signature light cones are worth it, and in what order. Flex slot alternatives and clear stopping points help you avoid over-investing.

Character Database — 90+ Character Guides

Every playable Honkai Star Rail character has a dedicated guide covering investment priority (eidolons and light cones ranked by score impact), recommended relic builds with set bonuses and stat targets, named team compositions (archetypes) the character fits into, synergy-rated teammates organized by role, and pre-built teams. Characters have separate 0-100 scores for Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow because performance varies significantly by mode. Pre-release characters may be added with preliminary guides up to a week before release using Creator Experience Server data, including full kit analysis, team recommendations, and score placements — refined after live release.

Roster Management

Track character ownership and eidolon levels, with your light cone copies and their superimposition levels on the separate Light Cones page. Import via UID (automatic from in-game data via Enka Network) or SRO JSON (Reliquary Archiver for full data including relics). Cloud sync keeps your roster data consistent across devices.

What are the current Honkai Star Rail redemption codes?

StarGuide lists every active Honkai Star Rail redemption code directly on the home page, refreshed hourly from official HoYoverse sources. Each code shows its parsed rewards with icons — stellar jade, credits, fuel, condensed and refined aether, self-modeling resin, traveler's guide, lost gold fragments, and any other in-game materials HoYoverse attaches. Tap any code row to copy it to your clipboard, or click the redeem icon to open the HoYoverse gift redemption page with the code pre-filled, so you can claim it in two clicks.

Codes released within the last 24 hours are flagged with a NEW badge so you can spot fresh drops at a glance. Redeemed codes are tracked per roster for signed-in users (and locally for guests) and automatically sort to the bottom of the list with a strikethrough, keeping the unused codes at the top where you need them. HoYoverse typically drops new codes around livestream broadcasts, version-patch launches, and special milestones, and StarGuide surfaces them within an hour of going live — no need to hunt through Twitter or Reddit threads.

What premium features does StarGuide offer?

Endgame Planner — Stage-by-Stage Optimization

Provides team recommendations for each individual stage of Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow. The planner simulates the rotation's selectable buff combinations and picks the one that maximizes your combined team score. Shows alternative team pairings per stage and accounts for element weaknesses and rotation-specific bonuses. Updated when rotations change.

Jade Strategy — Pull Budget Planner

Turns "who should I pull?" into "what will it actually cost?". Enter your jade balance and pity, stage targets — new characters, eidolon levels, light cone superimpositions — and get cost projections across three risk tiers (average, cautious, worst-case hard pity) against your available budget, with banner-phase cards covering current and upcoming phases.

Next Best Action — Upgrade Planner

Simulates every possible upgrade path — pulling a new character, adding an eidolon, acquiring a light cone — across your entire roster and ranks them by the account power increase they'd produce across all endgame modes. Stage multiple upgrades in sequence to plan multi-pull commitments and watch your simulated account power update as the plan comes together. Reserve teams of characters with the Lock a Team picker so other DPS plans automatically build around locked lineups. Free users can preview real current team scores for their owned DPS, while ranked upgrades and projections remain redacted.

Relic Insights — Farming Priority

Ranks relic farming domains by how many of your actively-used characters benefit from each domain, so you spend stamina where it has the most roster-wide impact. Team Readiness gives each favorited team an overall readiness grade and grades every member's relics from E to S, checking set bonuses, main stats, and substat quality against recommended builds, and flags the weakest member so you know exactly what to fix. Free users get a personalized preview from up to two strong non-overlapping teams with domain/set names and grades redacted.

Strategy Coach — Personalized Roster Advisor

The Strategy Coach can connect relevant StarGuide planning and analysis tools in a single conversation: team generator, pull advisor, relic grader, investment simulator, pity calculator, and more. It reads imported data from the roster each conversation starts with, uses the same scoring systems the rest of the site uses, and grounds answers in what that roster owns. Cross-conversation memory can retain selected pull plans, budget preferences, and account goals without blending roster-specific facts. Coach uses StarGuide's current authored character data and covers pre-release characters only after they clear Creator Experience Server or official public coverage.

How much does StarGuide cost?

StarGuide is free to use with a generous free tier. The free tier includes: 90+ character guides, Best Teams, Favorites, and Locked Teams, Pull Advisor, Banner tab, LC Optimizer, Team Investment Paths, Roster Management with UID and scanner import, and community features and leaderboards.

Optional supporter passes unlock premium analysis tools. Supporter tier ($5 for 1 month, $10 for 3 months, $18 for 6 months, $30 for 12 months) adds the full Endgame Planner, Jade Strategy with its Next Best Action investment simulator, and Relic Insights. Trailblazer tier ($12 for 1 month, $29 for 3 months, $45 for 6 months, $75 for 12 months) includes everything in Supporter plus the Strategy Coach with cross-conversation memory. The 1-month options are positioned as a low-commitment way to try the premium tools without locking into a longer pass. The methodology page documents every formula and algorithm behind the premium tools and explains what stays free and why.

All passes are paid upfront with no auto-renewal and no card saved for rebilling. Passes stack — buy a 3-month and a 6-month and you get 9 months total. No surprise charges and no ads anywhere on the site.

How do I import my Honkai Star Rail roster into StarGuide?

StarGuide offers two ways to import game data. UID Import uses your in-game UID through Enka Network, while SRO Import loads a Reliquary Archiver scanner file with characters, eidolons, light cones, and equipped relics. Separately, Settings lets guests and signed-in players export the active roster's StarGuide data as a versioned JSON backup and restore it later. Backup restore shows a before-and-after preview and requires explicit confirmation before the file's included data is restored onto the active roster; a safety copy of the current roster is selected by default. Scanner files still belong in the Roster import flow, while StarGuide backup files belong in Settings. Manual roster management remains available if you prefer not to scan or use UID import.

Getting Started — Guided Onboarding Tour

First-time visitors follow a seven-state workspace-first tour: welcome, roster import, opening a character, live investment impact, light cone inventory, Best Teams, and completion. The flow adapts to mobile, waits for setup interactions, and does not require an owned light cone.

Works Without an Account — Cloud Sync When You're Ready

StarGuide works fully without creating an account. Roster data, Favorites, Locked Teams, the LC Optimizer team scope and hidden recommendations, and settings are stored locally in your browser, and every free feature is available in single-roster guest mode. Guests can open Settings on desktop or mobile, export the active roster to a StarGuide JSON file they keep themselves, and restore it later after reviewing and confirming the changes. Signing in activates roster-scoped cloud sync across devices and provides two free rosters; any completed pass permanently raises the cap to four.

Community Features

Optional Community Profiles provide the username and identity for shareable Roster Pages with character showcases, roster statistics, power charts, and rare finds. The community features include an anonymous real-time activity feed showing roster additions, team saves, and eidolon changes across community rosters; leaderboards for most owned characters, most-invested rosters, and popular team compositions; per-character ownership percentages and eidolon distribution stats across the community; and live online presence tracking. Community stats and leaderboards are built from community rosters, and one person can contribute up to four.
