Overview
Early-game shielder and AoE Freeze support who excels at crowd control in multi-target scenarios. Single-target shields scale off DEF with aggro increase and debuff cleanse built in. SP-negative and outclassed by modern sustains in endgame.
Preservation shielder who applies single-target DEF-scaling shields with built-in aggro redirection, triggering counter-attacks when shielded allies are hit. Secondary role as AoE Freeze support via Ultimate with 65% base Freeze chance (with A6 trace). Manages a tension between SP-negative shielding and Ultimate-focused Freeze rotations, pivoting between defensive and crowd control playstyles depending on combat state.
Key Mechanics
- Shield absorbs damage based on the shielded ally's DEF, not March's DEF — tanky allies like March herself get more effective shielding than squishy characters. Shielding herself and using the aggro draw to tank is often more SP-efficient than repeatedly re-shielding fragile allies.
- Counter attacks from Talent generate 10 Energy each (up to 20-30 per turn), making counter-heavy scenarios the primary Energy source for faster Ultimate cycling. Self-shielding with aggro draw maximizes counter triggers.
- Freeze chance scales from 65% base (with A6) through Effect Hit Rate. At 92% Effect Hit Rate, effective Freeze rate approaches 100% against non-immune enemies. Without A6, the 50% base makes Freeze builds impractical.
- Cannot solo sustain — shields absorb damage but do not restore HP (until E6 adds minor healing). Teams relying on March as sole sustain need either very tanky compositions or a backup healing source.
Investment Priority
- E1 — Best stopping point for freeze-focused builds. Regenerates 6 Energy per frozen enemy with Ultimate, enabling near-permanent freeze chains in multi-target scenarios and significantly improving Ultimate uptime.
- E4 — Adds a third counter per turn and introduces 30% DEF scaling to counter damage — the only offensive DEF scaling in her kit before E4. Noticeably improves energy generation in counter-heavy scenarios.

Important Notes
- Outclassed in endgame sustain by all modern options — Aventurine, Huohuo, Gallagher, Fu Xuan, Gepard, and Lynx all provide superior survivability with better utility at equivalent investment.
- Cannot solo sustain teams reliably — shields absorb damage but do not restore HP, requiring a backup healer or an extremely tanky DPS in challenging content.
- SP-negative: Skill costs 1 SP per use. Most modern endgame teams cannot accommodate this cost without restricting amplifier usage.
- Freeze composition is entirely negated by freeze-immune enemies, which are common in Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow bosses.
