How to Use StarGuide — Complete Guide to Honkai Star Rail's Team Building Tools
StarGuide is a personalized Honkai: Star Rail team builder and account advisor. This guide walks you through every feature and how they work together, whether you're a free user, a Supporter, or a Trailblazer.
First: Set Up Your Roster
Everything in StarGuide is personalized to your account. Before any tool can help you, it needs to know what you have. Go to Manage Roster and import your characters. The recommended method is Reliquary Archiver, a read-only scanner used by the Fribbels optimizer community that imports your entire account (every character, eidolon, light cone, and relic set) in about five minutes. Alternatively, paste your in-game UID to import your Character Showcase with full detail (eidolons, LCs, relics). The site saves your UID so reimporting later is one click. This gets you about 80% of the way there, and for characters you don't actively use, you can just mark them as owned without worrying about their builds. You can also just click characters in the Roster page to mark them as owned if you'd rather not bother with imports. After the initial import, small changes (new pulls, light cone swaps) can be updated manually per character right from their character page.
The Free Workflow
These tools answer the core questions every player has: What teams should I use? Who should I pull next? Is this banner worth it? The typical workflow is: Best Teams to check your teams, then Character Pages to research characters, then Pull Advisor to find who to pull, then Banner Advisor to check the banner, then Team Paths to plan the build.
"What are the best teams I can build right now?"
Best Teams shows your strongest team compositions ranked by power, built entirely from characters you own. You can force specific characters together, lock teams so characters don't repeat across lineups, and favorite the ones you want to keep at the top. If you want to understand why a team works, click the DPS to see their teammate synergies, rated by role, and what makes the composition tick.
"Who should I pull next?"
Pull Advisor shows you every character you don't own, ranked by how much they'd improve your account. For supports, it tells you how many of your DPS want them and how urgently; for DPS, it shows whether you already have the supports to build a strong team around them. Once someone catches your eye, check their character page to dig into their teammates and investment.
"There's a banner live right now. Is it worth pulling on?"
Select a banner in the Banner Advisor and each featured character gets a verdict based on your roster: how many of your DPS or supports want them, and how urgently. Characters you already own are still shown if there's a valuable eidolon upgrade for them. If someone looks interesting, click through to their page to see who they team up with and whether you have the pieces to make them work.
"Is E1 or the signature light cone worth it for my character?"
Open the character on their character page and toggle eidolons and light cones on and off. You'll see exactly how much each upgrade matters and whether it changes their tier. Some E1s are transformative; others barely move the needle. Same for light cones: you can compare the signature vs. free options side by side.
"What relics should I put on this character?"
Every character page has a relic section showing recommended sets, main stats per slot, substat priority, and stat targets to aim for. If you've imported your account with the scanner, it also grades your currently equipped relics slot by slot and tells you what to replace first.
"How do I get the most out of my light cones?"
The LC Advisor has three tabs. The Optimizer tells you if any of your light cones should be on a different character. The Acquire tab ranks the light cones you don't own by how much they'd help, filtered by source (banner, standard, event, battle pass), so you can decide if a LC banner is worth it or if a free option covers you. The Battle Pass tab tells you which BP light cone to pick at the end of each period.
"I decided to build a team. What order do I invest in?"
Team Paths provides step-by-step investment roadmaps for popular teams, filtered to what you own. Each path tells you what to build first, what to target next, and where you can stop if you want to pause and reassess. Flexible slots (like "pick your healer") let you choose from your available options and the steps adjust.
"How strong is my account overall?"
Account Power gives you a single score (Starting Out through Pinnacle) that tells you where your account stands across Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow. Shows your best team lineups per mode and which mode you're weakest in. A timeline chart tracks how your account grows over time.
The Supporter Workflow
Supporter tools go deeper than "who to pull." They tell you exactly what to do today to make your account stronger, down to which relic domain to farm and which endgame stage to target. Everything above, plus these tools. Requires Supporter ($9+) or Trailblazer pass. The typical workflow is: Next Best Action to find what to pull, then Relic Insights to find where to farm, then Endgame Planner after reset.
"I have jades to spend. What's the single best pull I can make right now?"
Where Pull Advisor only covers characters you don't own, Next Best Action covers everything: eidolons for characters you already have, signature light cones, and new teammates, all ranked by impact for a specific DPS team. Pick a DPS and it shows you the single best upgrade across all of those options. It flags when an upgrade lines up with an active banner so you know if the timing is right. Lock teams to plan non-overlapping lineups and check each one's top upgrade to build a full pull priority list.
"Which relic domain should I farm this week?"
Relic Insights has two tabs. Farming Priority tells you which domain to run based on how many of your team members need sets from it. Team Readiness grades your favorited teams (S through E) and shows you which teammate has the weakest relics. Check this before spending stamina.
"MoC just reset. What teams do I run for each stage?"
Pick your mode in the Endgame Planner and get team recommendations for each stage of the current cycle: which blessing to pick, which team to run for each half, with no character overlap. Recommendations change every reset based on the new rotation. Alternatives are available if you want options.
The Trailblazer Workflow
The Strategy Coach replaces tab-hopping with a single conversation. It has access to every tool on the site, knows your full roster, and remembers your past conversations. Ask it anything and it runs the analysis for you. Everything above, plus the Strategy Coach. Requires Trailblazer pass ($24+).
"Should I pull for Evanescia or Silver Wolf Lv.999?"
It looks at what you already have and shows you the best team you could build with each one. If both characters need the same support, it'll point that out and show what each team looks like without her. You get a comparison based on your actual roster, not a generic tier list.
"What should I farm today?"
It checks which of your teams have the weakest relics, finds the character dragging the team down, and tells you exactly which domain to run and what stats to look for.
"Can my account full-star MoC this cycle?"
It builds non-overlapping teams for each stage using this cycle's element weaknesses and your roster. If a stage looks tight, it explains what's holding you back and shows alternative lineups.
"I just got Acheron. Now what?"
It remembers you were saving for her, builds the best team from what you own, and gives you a step-by-step plan for what to invest in next (eidolons, light cones, teammates).
"I have 40k jades at 62 pity with guarantee. What are my odds?"
It calculates your exact probability of getting the featured 5-star, how many pulls you'd need for 90% confidence, and whether you have enough left over for a second character.
"How should I build my Firefly team for MoC?"
It knows your exact roster and builds teams around what you own. It'll recommend teammates based on your specific eidolon level, light cone, and available supports, not just a generic tier list.
Every page on StarGuide answers one question at a time. The Coach connects them in a single conversation. It knows your roster, your investment levels, your light cones, and your favorited teams. It remembers facts across conversations so it doesn't ask the same questions twice. And it shows you which tools it's running in real-time so you can see the work behind every answer.
